“I thoroughly enjoyed my three years and feel very privileged to have been taught by such fantastic lecturers who have prepared me well for a career in exercise prescription…”
Growing up, I have always had a serious interest in sport and exercise and was involved in multiple sport teams playing at representative levels. I decided that I wanted to turn my passion into my career.
What attracted me to study the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise (Exercise Prescription) at Massey University in Palmerston North, was how the degree offered both practical and theory components which provided a valuable hands-on experience throughout the three years. The degree also offered a large variety of papers across the discipline of exercise prescription including biomechanics, kinesiology, athletic conditioning, sport science, and sport nutrition.
Engaging lecturers who had extensive knowledge and experience in their specific areas, also made studying this degree really enjoyable. They were friendly and approachable which helped to create a positive learning environment. As students, we were given multiple opportunities to apply the theory and knowledge into a range of practical situations. This degree allowed me the opportunity to work alongside and train clients with a variety of health-related conditions including multiple sclerosis, paraplegia, stroke victims, and obesity. I was also exposed to working with high performance sports teams, learnt about team training and personal training.
Completing this degree at Massey University has provided me with the tools, knowledge and practical experience for me to graduate and enter the career as a sports therapist and trainer at Xalt 110% Sports Performance Clinic in Palmerston North.
I am really glad I made the decision to study the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise (Exercise Prescription) at Massey University. I thoroughly enjoyed my three years and feel very privileged to have been taught by such fantastic lecturers who have prepared me well for a career in exercise prescription.
