Graduation

The hard work is over and you are ready to celebrate your achievement. You now need to apply to graduate. Your application to graduate should be made as soon as you have submitted your thesis, this will hold a place in the ceremony for you. Please wait until your results are available to make any related travel arrangements.

You can choose to graduate:

  • In person – where your scroll is presented to you in person at a graduation ceremony OR
  • In absentia – where your graduation is authorised through a University Council Meeting and your scroll is sent to you. Please note if you graduate by this method you will not be able to attend a ceremony for the qualification at a later date.

Māori Graduates

Graduates who have chosen to graduate through the April or May ceremonies and are of Māori descent have the option to celebrate their graduation at the Celebration to Honour Māori Graduates in addition to attending/graduating at the main graduation ceremony. If you only wish to attend the Celebration to Honour Māori Graduates you will graduate in absentia, through the main ceremony and your scroll will be posted to you.

Pasifika Graduates

Graduates who have chosen to graduate through the April or May ceremonies and are of Pasifika descent have the option to celebrate their graduation at the Celebration to Honour Pasifika Graduates in addition to attending/graduating at the main graduation ceremony. If you only wish to attend the Celebration to Honour Pasifika Graduates you will graduate in absentia, through the main ceremony and your scroll will be posted to you.
